A Facility Manager from an IT company in Pune’s Yerawada has launched a hunger strike after reportedly being dismissed while undergoing cancer treatment. The incident has triggered widespread discussions on employee rights, ethical workplace practices, and job security in the IT sector.

Santosh Patole, who served as a Facility Manager at multinational firm SLB for eight years, alleges he was removed from service shortly after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer during the company’s annual health check-up in April. With over 20 years of professional experience, Patole says the diagnosis required immediate surgery and medical care, forcing him to take leave through May and June.
