GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Fabiola Cortez had a strong 2024-25 wrestling campaign, ultimately finishing 2nd in the Class A 155 pound weight class at the state tournament in Omaha.
Now in her third year with the program, Cortez has a third coach, but her approach and attitude hasn’t changed.
“For me my mindset controls everything I do, I have to say ‘hey you can do it’ or ‘why be scared’. If you lose work harder, and then if you win then just keep on working harder,” said Cortez.
While disappointed by her finish last season, Cortez has let it drive her work coming into this year.
“I feel like last year was pretty tough for me, which make me realize a lot, I didn’t win, I got second place in the finals and I feel like that kind of creates the mind set to change, to work harder and to be
