It’s safe to say the decision by Soo Greyhounds general manager Kyle Raftis to acquire 19-year-old defenceman Lukas Fischer on Monday went over well with his players.
In fact, they’ve been clamouring for a big-name addition on a daily basis, forward Travis Hayes said.
“We bug him every day,” he said. “(Raftis) knows that we want to go for it, and to pick up a guy like Fischer is a really big add for us.”
Even head coach John Dean admitted the St. Louis Blues second-rounder was an early Christmas present.
“The Christmas list I’ll keep to myself, but Fisch was definitely on the list,” he said, smiling.
