Every year, thousands of kind BirminghamLive readers buy gifts for the city's poorest children for the one day of the year all kids should be spoiled.

The sad truth is mounting child poverty in Birmingham means many children face waking on December 25 to nothing.

That is why Brumwish exists - to give Brummies the opportunity to step in and easily buy a gift for a child who otherwise may not get one.

Brumwish has been going for five years. These days, it is delivered in partnership with Thrive Together Birmingham and Edgbaston Stadium - and has seen more than 50,000 toys delivered to poor and even homeless children.

The problem is demand is always there.
