A former Miss Switzerland winner was strangled, dismembered and partially pureed by her husband in an attack prosecutors have described as showing “a remarkably high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness”. Kristina Joksimovic, 38, who was crowned Miss Switzerland in 2007, was killed at the couple’s home in Binningen, near Basel, on February 13, 2024.
Her 43-year-old husband – named only as Thomas under Swiss privacy laws – has now been formally charged with murder and disturbing the peace of the dead. The Basel-Landschaft Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed yesterday that the investigation is complete and the case has been sent to the cantonal criminal court for trial. The accused, who was arrested at the scene, remains in pre-trial detention.
