Labour is targeting motorists aged over 70 with new safety initiatives, as "mature" drivers are deemed a potential hazard. The Labour Party scheme comes after one in five people raised concerns regarding elderly individuals' driving habits.

A fifth of those who expressed unease about an older family member's time behind the wheel did so upon noticing fresh dents or scrapes on their vehicle, according to the findings. Nicholas Lyes, IAM RoadSmart's director of policy and standards, noted that many older individuals continue to be "safe and considerate" drivers.
