A tree-mendous recycling scheme is aiming to collect 3,000 Christmas trees in 2026 by helping people dispose of their festive firs while supporting hospice care.

Teesside Hospice is bringing back its Tree Cycle scheme, offering residents a convenient and environmentally friendly way to recycle their Christmas trees from January 8 to 11.

The scheme is open to addresses across TS1-TS29 and DL6-DL7.

Tilly Roberts, community and events manager at Teesside Hospice, said: "Real trees are beautiful until the time comes to dispose of it, when you’re short on time and left with tree needles in the back of your car.

"Instead, we can take care of the mess for you, while you help reduce co2 in the atmosphere and donate to a really worthy cause.
