Lowering stomach acid can help heal irritated or damaged areas in the oesophagus, stomach, and small intestine. Omeprazole can be purchased without a prescription (if used for no more than 14 days) or prescribed by a doctor for more serious cases. It also helps with stomach ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), and the stomach infection Helicobacter pylori. ‌
