Drivers across County Durham are being warned about scam texts that are demanding that they pay a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

Durham County Council have put out a warning to motorists about the automated phone message that is doing the rounds in the region.

Drivers have reported receiving the message that reads: " The record shows that you have an unpaid parking fine. The payment deadline is December 9, 2025. If it is not paid by then, you may be subject to additional fines and interest.
