Bangladesh on Thursday announced that it will hold the 13th National Parliamentary Election on February 12, 2026, marking the first general polls since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Naseeruddin made the announcement while addressing the nation, stating that the country is ready to demonstrate to the world that it can conduct “free and democratic voting.”
He urged citizens to remain vigilant against fake news and rumours, calling them a major challenge ahead of the polls. The CEC confirmed that voting for the general election and the July Charter referendum will take place simultaneously on February 12.
