Nestlé has revamped Toffee Crisp and Blue Riband as part of a money-saving strategy that means the confections can no longer legally be labelled as chocolate, according to The Grocer. ‌

UK laws stipulate that milk chocolate must contain a minimum of 20% cocoa solids and 20% milk solids to qualify for that classification. ‌

However, Nestlé has modified the formulations for both Toffee Crisp and Blue Riband, cutting back on cocoa mass while boosting vegetable fats. Consequently, wrappers now display "chocolate flavour coating" rather than "milk chocolate" - an alteration rolled out in recent weeks, The Grocer revealed. ‌
