Dozens of volunteers, staff, board members, friends and folks from fellow environmental organizations gathered Tuesday evening at the Luepke Community Center in Vancouver to bid farewell to the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington.

“It’s so hard to just simplify it, but what it’s brought to the community is just that, community,” said Greer Ramsey, who oversees the popular Backyard Habitat Certification program.

For 17 years, the alliance has worked to bring local residents together for environmental projects, such as tree plantings, river cleanups and habitat restoration projects, along with providing environmental education programs to youth and adults alike.
