Three men were found murdered on farmland in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district late Wednesday night, with police suspecting they were strangled during an occult ritual.

“Five persons including one Tantrik has been detained for questioning,” said Korba Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tewari. The victims are scrap dealers Mohammad Ashraf Memon and Suresh Sahu, both from Korba, and Nitish Kumar from Baloda Bazar. The rituals were allegedly performed at Memon’s farm in Kudri village under Urga police station.

Police allegedly learnt of the murders after the three were taken to a Korba hospital by others present. At the farm, officers allegedly found incense sticks, lemons, some cash and other materials in the two-acre, walled plot where the rituals were held.
