The future of Shetland has been secured following its tenth series.

DI Ruth Calder (Ashley Jensen) and DI Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh (Alison O'Donnell) returned this autumn to crack another case in the beloved BBC mystery drama.

The moody programme has proved ideal viewing amid the dreary weather of recent weeks, with Wednesday's (December 10) series finale at last unveiling who murdered Eadie Tulloch (Maria MacDonnell).

The retired social worker was found dead outside her home in the isolated village of Lunniswick, having been exposed to brutal conditions for several days before a neighbour made the grim discovery whilst dropping off a food parcel.
