No one likes getting parking tickets, but they’re a part of life.

In 2024 alone, Syracuse parking enforcers issued over 61,000 tickets for over 40 different reasons. That is according to data from the open data portal provided by the city . The data reflects tickets issued through midday on Dec. 27 of last year.

The city’s downtown and university areas were hotbeds for tickets, with most citations originating in one of those two spots.

The violation with the highest fine total last year was overtime parking at more than $455,000.

That ticket is for zones that allow parking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The violation occurs when people park for longer than their allotted time.
