The United Way Oxford’s second annual Ultimate Burger Battle certainly brought some sizzle to its ongoing fundraising campaign.
The event, where diners voted for their favourite burgers among the unique creations of 16 area restaurants, raised more than $20,000 for the agency, eclipsing last year’s total by almost $5,000. By the end of November – the month dedicated to this culinary clash – the participating eateries has collectively sold 2,831 “ultimate burgers.”

“We are so thankful to our community for supporting this event,” United Way Oxford resource development co-ordinator Megan Porter said in a release. “Two dollars from every ultimate burger sold was donated to United Way Oxford, all the money raised will be invested back into our community.”
