COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A new study proposes reducing the number of school districts in Ohio by redrawing district lines to decrease rates of racial and economic segregation.

The study, by the left-leaning New America’s Education Funding Equity initiative, redraws boundaries for Ohio and other states under three different scenarios for each state:

Ohio’s current 607 school districts would reduce to 88 under the district-a-county option, 163 under the merger model and 156 under the blank slate scenario.
