The top Greater Manchester NHS boss has been suspended with an internal investigation underway, it has been confirmed. Mark Fisher CBE is chief executive of NHS Greater Manchester.

It was confirmed by the NHS on Thursday (December 11) that Mr Fisher was suspended from his role earlier this week pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Mr Fisher was appointed as chief executive of Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board, the region's NHS oversight body, when it was set up in 2022. It was announced in September that he is due to retire in March next year after 42 years.

The NHS said 'interim leadership arrangements' were now in place involving deputy chief executive, Colin Scales. No details on the reason surrounding Mr Fisher's suspension have been revealed.
