COLUMBIA — Shane Beamer hired Kendal Briles as South Carolina’s new offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and play-caller on Dec. 11, a move that will very much play a part in Beamer’s future at USC and also determine if USC’s gamble of truly being a contender in college football is worth the reach.
Briles received a three-year contract worth $2 million in 2026, $2.1 million in 2027 and $2.2 million in 2028.
Briles, as known for his offensive acumen as he is for his attachment to the Baylor University sexual assault scandal that forced his father Art Briles out of Division I football in 2016 — Art Briles was hired as head coach at Division II Eastern New Mexico on Nov. 23 — is a definite big name for Beamer to get, but at what cost?
Kendal Briles was never directly implicated
