A deadline to claim free £50 bonus payments from Nationwide will soon be passing.

Certain customers face missing out on the extra cash if they don't claim it by January 1.

Over 12 millions members issued the free payments earlier this year as part of a special giveaway.

The majority of people received the payments directly to their bank accounts.

But some others will have been sent cheques in the post which needed to be cash in.

The cut-off point to do this is January 1, 2026, otherwise they will become worthless.

Some cheques may have been forgotten about and left in drawers.
