Construction is set to begin soon on Desert Hot Springs' long-awaited new sports park, which will take a year to build and open about a year later than expected.
The city council approved awarding a nearly $9 million construction contract for the new park, which will be named Eagles Sports Park, during a special meeting Tuesday, Dec. 9. That's more than $3 million more than it was initially projected to cost.
