The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six States and Union territories (UTs) after receiving requests from their chief electoral officers.

In a statement, the EC released the revised schedule for Tamil Nadu , Gujara t, Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh , the Andaman and Nicobar Islands , and Uttar Pradesh . The enumeration process in these regions was originally slated to conclude on Thursday, with draft electoral rolls scheduled for publication on December 16.

Under the revised timeline, the enumeration period for Tamil Nadu and Gujarat will now continue until December 14, and draft rolls will be published on December 19.
