Health leaders have urged all those eligible to get their flu jab as soon as possible amid what has been described as a late-season 'surge' in demand. It comes as some pharmacies are reporting difficulties sourcing vaccines as more people come forward.
Janet Morrison, chief executive of Community Pharmacy England, said there had been 'isolated reports' of supply issues across the country. She stressed that pharmacies were working hard to secure additional stock where needed.
"As advised by NHS England, it's important that people who are eligible for flu jabs come forward as soon as they can," she told PA news agency. She warned the recent spike in demand could mean longer waiting times for appointments.
