ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves on Thursday announced they are signing star relief pitcher Robert Suarez from the San Diego Padres.

The deal is for three years and $45 million, the team said in a statement. That will break down to $13 million in the first season and $16 million in each of the next two seasons for the right-hander.

Suarez, who will be 35 next season, has a career 2.91 ERA and was an All-Star in each of the last two seasons.

In 2024 for San Diego, Suarez recorded a National League-leading 40 saves and struck out 75 batters in 69 2/3 innings, walking 16.

Suarez also had a 2.77 ERA in 65 innings in 2024, a 4.23 ERA in 27 2/3 innings in 2023 and a 2.27 ERA in 47 2/3 innings in 2022.
