A suburban man has been charged with murder in what police called the "tragic" death of a missing 21-year-old woman, with prosecutors saying he led her into his garage and then gruesomely attacked and fatally stabbed her before dumping her body on the side of the road in rural Lake County.
Santino Ortiz, 22, of Elmhurst, made his first court appearance Monday in DuPage County, where he was charged six counts of First Degree Murder, one court of Armed Robbery and one count of Concealment of a Homicidal Death, a release said. He was denied pre-trial release and will be held until his court appearance next month, according to DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin.
