CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Can’t prove it, but it’s a safe bet there are more leg lamps glowing in Cleveland windows this time of year than anywhere else.
“A Christmas Story” holds a special place in the hearts of Clevelanders, a connection that began when the movie was partially filmed here 42 years ago. Watching it on TV has become an essential part of our shared holiday experience.
Cleveland Play House would like that tradition to extend to the stage version of Jean Shepherd’s tale, which began as a radio series long before it became a book or a film. The theater is presenting “A Christmas Story” for the second straight year and the 14th time overall through Dec. 21 at the Allen Theatre in Playhouse Square.
