KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man accused of attacking an 85-year-old woman with a hammer is now charged with attempted first-degree murder.
The Johnson County DA’s office originally charged 50-year-old Christopher A. Brewer with aggravated battery in the attack that happened outside a Whole Foods store near W. 119th and S. Ridgeview Rd. on Nov. 30.
The charge was amended to attempted first-degree murder on Dec. 10.
Brewer was in court the following day. During a hearing a judge ordered an evaluation and set his bond at $100,000. If he posts bond, Brewer will be put on house arrest and monitored by GPS.
