EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Police Department hosted its annual holiday dinner, bringing officers and community members together on Wednesday at the Saint Vincent de Paul Lindholm Center.

According to organizers, about 200 people were served by police officers and EPD staff at the center on Highway 99 near Elmira Road.

"This is an important event to show law enforcement cares about everyone, especially those in need," organizers said.

David Clark of the Eugene Police emphasized the importance of building trust.

"Everybody's a friend, he said. "Everybody's anonymous and everyone can just relax even though the police are here and just have a great meal."

This marks the ninth year of the EPD's holiday dinner and the third consecutive year that Texas Roadhouse has sponsored most of the meal
