While it may seem incongruent, certain ice crusher models have been recalled because they may ignite and cause a fire.
Sanven Technology has recalled 11,650 Vevor ice crushers because they “can experience a thermal event and ignite, posing a fire hazard,” according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission .
The crushers were sold online at Vevor.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, HomeDepot.com and Lowes.com from July 2021 through July 2025 for between $40 and $86.
The ice crusher has a handle that consumers press down to feed ice into a chute. The handle activates a cutter within the feed chute.
