LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) has launched the Good Food for Michigan project, an initiative aimed at keeping more locally grown food within Michigan communities.
MDARD Director Tim Boring said the project grew out of conversations with growers and community organizations across the state.
Many expressed concerns about federal policies that are straining food access and affordability, while others emphasized a need for more opportunities to feed their own communities.
