CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston Police say a man who broke into a woman’s home and assaulted her is facing multiple charges.
Walter Clayton Pate III, 29, of North Charleston, is charged with first-degree assault and battery, first-degree burglary and kidnapping, according to jail records.
Police say he broke into the victim’s home on Wednesday.
The victim told police she discovered the man in her home early that morning and that he was wearing only his underwear. When she confronted him, she told officers that Pate physically assaulted her.
Police say the victim fought back and was able to get him outside of the home and that he ran away from the area.
Charleston detectives and the U.S. Marshals Task Force were able to find and arrest Pate Wednesday night.
