The National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory at 11:47 a.m. on Thursday in effect until Friday at 4 a.m. for Tioga County.
"Additional snow accumulations up to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "Locally heavy bands of lake effect snow could quickly reduce visibility and result in locally hazardous travel particularly along portions of Route 6 and US 15."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute," states the weather service. "Slow down and use caution while traveling."
