New Delhi, Dec 11: Jammu and Kashmir remained a top Union Territory in generating employment under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in 2024–25, with 9,863 micro enterprises assisted and an estimated 78,904 jobs created, Union Ministry informed Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises further informed the house that an estimated data was recorded till December-9-2025.
Official data reveal that J&K has recorded consistently high numbers under PMEGP over the last four years by assisting 21,648 units in 2021–22, 12,023 in 2022–23, 15,065 in 2023–24 and 9,863 units in the ongoing financial year.
The estimated employment generated during these years stands at 1.73 lakh, 96,184, 1.20 lakh, and 78,904 respectively.
