KALAMAZOO, MI –– West Michigan is a snow globe right now, but a new locally-owned shop at 3262 Stadium Drive is proving ice cream is for every season.

The ‘Zoo Scoop officially opened its doors on Black Friday.

“I think there’s risk opening a business any time of year, but especially a business like an ice cream shop in the middle of winter,” said Bradley Romstadt, founder of The ‘Zoo Scoop. “There’s definitely some risk that goes into that. But I knew with all the support that I had... I felt confident that we’d make it.”

Romstadt is a Kalamazoo native and graduated from Hackett Prep in 2018.

While at Hackett Prep, Romstadt, 26, worked at the Treat Street in Oakland Plaza.

His father, Mark Romstadt, owns Mark’s Diner in Portage, with which he also helped.
