EUGENE, Ore. - The holiday season is a time for community and giving, yet for many seniors in Lane County, it can be a period of silence and isolation.
According to Senior & Disability Services, a division of Lane Council of Governments, one in two seniors living alone face difficult choices between food and heating, with winter weather worsening their isolation. Senior & Disability Services is urging residents to support the Senior Meals Program, which includes Meals on Wheels, by volunteering or donating. Volunteers play a crucial role in delivering meals, providing companionship, and conducting safety checks for homebound seniors.
