WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Superintendent Don Phipps said the district will begin using its weapons detection systems every day on campus going forward after officials confirmed metal detectors were not in use on the day a 16-year-old student was fatally stabbed at North Forsyth High School.

At a Thursday news conference, Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough Jr. said that metal detectors and the school's OpenGate weapon detection system were not being used on Tuesday before a fight in a school bathroom led to the death of 16-year-old Cameron Graham and injuries to an 18-year-old student.
