LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The man accused of hitting and killing a Pulaski County Special School District security guard has been found not guilty.

The trial of 56-year-old Desmond Nkala , who faced one count of manslaughter after prosecutors accused him of fatally hitting Pulaski County Special School District security guard Officer Victor Montgomery, continued into Wednesday.

The incident happened on Monday, August 14, 2023, when officials stated that Officer Montgomery was directing traffic and children in front of Joe T. Robinson Elementary on the first day of school.

During the trial, the jury heard testimony from an Arkansas Crime Lab medical examiner who gave additional details about Officer Montgomery's injuries.
