GIBSON CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Last week, a Gibson County deputy rushed into action to help a family in need.

Deputy Levi Sims was on routine patrol when he heard dispatch report that a woman was giving birth outside the Flying J gas station.

Sims made it just in time and helped the mother deliver the baby right there in the parking lot.

A week later, he reunited with the family and held the newborn he helped bring into the world.

“We’re sure they’ll all remember that event forever‚" said the sheriff’s office on Facebook.

The family tells us they are grateful for the deputy’s help.
