More than 40 years after a woman disappeared in Northern California, the Placer County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday identified parts of a skull as the woman's.
Marjorie Linehan was 49 years old when she disappeared Oct. 1, 1982, in Sacramento County, the sheriff's office said. It would not be until Feb. 19, 1986, when investigators would find portions of a human skull along Dry Creek near Booth Road in unincorporated Roseville.
The sheriff's office said the skull fragments remained unidentified for years until the Placer County Cold Case Team submitted those remains to the California Department of Justice to be re-examined. Afterward, the DOJ confirmed those remains belonged to Linehan.
