CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The City of Carbondale Police Department recently hosted its 24th annual Community Christmas Store, providing essential winter items and gifts to local children.
The event supported 194 children from 89 families in Carbondale, offering coats, shoes, presents, books, movies, and stuffed animals.
The initiative was made possible through contributions from community partners like the Carbondale Kiwanis, Walmart locations in Carbondale and Murphysboro, Shoe Carnival, and others.
The Carbondale Police Department expressed gratitude to SIU Saluki Athletics and the SIU Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams for their support.
Donations of new coats are being accepted throughout the year to continue assisting children in need. Those interested in contributing can contact
