CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - For the second time in less than six months, federal prosecutors and law enforcement are talking about violence on Charlotte light rails.
Thursday’s press conference comes the same day one of the light rail stabbing suspects made their first appearance in federal court.
It was a quick hearing this morning in court for Decarlos Brown Junior, the man charged with murdering Iryna Zarutska on the light rail.
Brown walked into court escorted by the US Marshals, wearing a Mecklenburg County Detention Center jumpsuit and in handcuffs.
During the roughly 10-minute appearance, Brown at times looked around the courtroom as the judge read the details of his indictment and reminded the legal teams that this is a death penalty case.
