JAMES CITY — The newest member of the James City County Board of Supervisors was sworn in Tuesday as the board also said goodbye to a longtime member.

Tracy Wainwright, who won election to the Powhatan District seat in November, was sworn in to replace Michael Hipple, who did not run for reelection after serving for 12 years. Wainwright beat out Ti’Juana Gholson in both womens’ first run for public office. During his last meeting on Tuesday, the last meeting of the year, Hipple thanked his fellow supervisors while noting the importance of respecting one another despite disagreements.
