MANCHESTER, N.H. —
U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-New Hampshire, said Thursday she hopes Republicans will work with Democrats to negotiate a compromise to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, even after two proposals to address the problem failed in the Senate earlier in the day.
Democrats were pushing to extend the credits by three years, while Republicans proposed replacing them with Health Savings Accounts, but neither bill had enough support to pass.
Shaheen was part of a group of Democrats who voted in November to end the government shutdown without a deal on ACA tax credits in place. She said she had no regrets about that vote.
