The J.O. Combs Unified School District in San Tan Valley has chosen its new superintendent.

Toby Haugen of the Florence Unified School District recently was selected by the district’s governing board to the top post. Haugen will officially begin his term on July 1, 2026.

Haugen will work with current superintendent, Greg Wyman, over the coming months, according to a press release from the district.

In 2023, the Florence Unified School District Governing School Board voted to approve hiring Haugen as the director of human resources. He has also served as the principal of Florence High School.
