PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Chandler woman who police said was at the center of the “house of horrors” where dead dogs were found in her freezer in 2023 was offered a plea deal in her animal cruelty case and her fraud case.
Court documents filed Thursday show the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office show the agreement would have April McLaughlin, who is also known by her alias Sydney S. McKinley, plead guilty to two felony charges of intentionally subjecting a domestic animal to cruel mistreatment.
It would be up to a judge to determine a prison time for the first felony, which typically ranges from six months to 2.5 years for a class 5 felony. The punishment for the second felony would be supervised probation with animal care restrictions.
