NORWALK, Ohio — The trial is underway for a Sandusky man accused of killing his ex-wife more than two decades ago in Huron County.

Prosecutors say Paul Hicks killed his ex-wife, Regina Rowe-Hicks, in 2001 and left her in her car, submerged in a farm pond in Willard. Testimony grew emotional in Huron County Common Pleas Court Thursday when Hicks' mother, Jewel Hicks, took the stand — describing Regina not just as a daughter-in-law, but as a family member she deeply loved.

Rowe-Hicks disappeared on Oct. 18, 2001, after leaving her boyfriend's home to pick up her son. Four days later, her Chevy Camaro was found in a pond along Section Line Road 30, with her body inside.
