NORMAL (WREX) — Jake Anderson, a former star at Du-Pec and current defensive lineman for Illinois State, played a crucial role in his team's recent victory. Last week, he forced and recovered a fumble that led to the game-winning touchdown against North Dakota State in the FCS playoffs.
"It was pretty special for me especially," Anderson said. "There were two things I had never done at Illinois State which were beat NDSU and play at the Fargodome. To be able to knock both of those off in one was pretty cool."
The victory was significant for Illinois State, but the team must now prepare to face UC-Davis in the quarterfinals. Anderson, who grew up in the small town of Davis, attributes his success to his upbringing.
