VALLEY, Neb. —

The City of Valley will have another special election in January to fill two vacant city council seats.

The deadline to put your name in the running is Friday, Dec. 12.

The special election comes after citizens voted in Nov. to recall then Mayor Cindy Grove and city council president John Batcher. Following that recall, on Nov. 18, the remaining city council members, Melanie Hayden and Jake Lewis voted to name Linda Lewis, fellow council member, as mayor for the rest of the term. Linda Lewis was sworn in during that special city council meeting, leaving two empty city council seats.

Secretary of state, Bob Evnen, ordered for the January special election to be held because the vacancies are half of the total number of city council members for the city.
