Former head coach Sherrone Moore made a promise when he took over at Michigan, and it appears he kept it.

The Wolverines are the winningest football program in college sports. But they’re now in the hunt for a third head coach in four years.

Moore was dismissed on Wednesday , with the university claiming to have obtained damning evidence of an affair with a school staffer. He has been fired for cause. This means he won’t be collecting the $13 million buyout included in the deal he inked last year.

“This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and UM maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” athletic director Warde Manuel said, per ESPN .

Having gone 8-5 in his first season, the 39-year-old was at 9-3 before his firing.
