For the last 19 years here on the Central Coast I have spent my holiday seasons preparing my teams to play in a multitude of gyms as a high school varsity basketball coach.

Now I’m on the other side of it, and December is typically when high school varsity basketball teams play about half of their standard 28 games.

This month is a hot bed for holiday hoops. Not a weekend will go by without a buffet of high school games going on. Starting this coming weekend, on Dec. 11, the Morro Bay H.I.T. invitational tournament will be tipping things off with one of the larger tournaments in the area.

Twenty teams will be competing in the Morro Bay high school gyms, along with co-host San Luis Obispo high school. Half of the teams in the tournament are local, with Morro Bay, Santa Maria, Arroyo Gran
